"Wizard World" Chicago

If you happen to be going to the WW event in Chicago this weekend, you may want to take a day extra and go to Wauconda. What's in Wauconda, you ask?? Check this out...

News - Vernon Hills Review: "'Anime-zing: The World of Japanese Animation,' will open Aug. 13, 2005, at the Lake County Discovery Museum at Lakewood Forest Preserve near Wauconda.
The exciting new exhibit explores the world of Japanese animation, known as anime.
Explore this pop culture phenomenon through an interactive exhibit that includes anime clips, original production art, collectibles and more.
Through an interactive journey, visitors will trace anime's history and cultural roots, learn about its creators and fans and delve into its various genres. Learn about Japanese storytelling and the art of anime through popular shows and movies such as Yu-Gi-Oh!, Ghost in the Shell, Sailor Moon and Speed Racer, which are all featured in the exhibit.
'Anime-zing' exhibit highlights include various traditional Japanese art prints and vintage postcards, a replica of the cat bus from My Neighbor Totoro, and a wall mural of modern day Tokyo. Visitors also can discover what goes on behind the scenes of anime production at Mastodon Productions, Inc. This special studio allows guests to try their hand at creating an anime character and being a voice actor.

I like the studio idea, maybe it'll catch on...
