Tokyo Pop - Lucas Films

Akadot - Tokyo Pop, Publisher of Manga in the U.S., Launches a Publication Business in Japan: "Tokyo Pop, publisher of Japanese manga in the U.S., has undertaken a publication business in Japan. Having secured the right to handle movie-related publications from Hollywood studios, they will produce comic-style books aiming for an annual sales of 50 billion yen.
With a tie-up with Lucas Films, the first venture in this new-type publication will be 3 works based on the Star Wars series (picture). The 3 publications will be released on the 21st of this month. The style of the books, called 'cinemanga' is an invention of the company, with still shots from movie scenes pieced together to resemble panels from a manga. With the promotional effect of the Star Wars movie to be released this summer, sales are expected to exceed 300,000 copies - raking in a total of 20 billion yen.
Tokyo Pop has purchased the right to publish translated versions of Japanese manga, and publishes approximately 400 titles annually. For the future, they are looking into strengthening their ties with the U.S. movie industry, and expanding on their sales of books based on movie content (i.e., information and plot) in Japan and Europe.

I wonder if the Manga will be out before the movies DVD??
