Tall, thin, and with black hair that plays tag with his shoulders, his clothes hang loosely from his body. The glasses and stern look in his eyes give away a maturity that seems unnatural of the comic book fan he is. Or maybe they reveal the businessman he may become.

Somerville resident Michael Terraciano, more commonly known as Mookie, gave two panel discussions at the Anime Boston, a Japanese animation conference held April 9-11 that attracted more than 3,000 fans. Mookie is invited to comic book conferences across the East Coast; he has a book deal on the way; and his web comic is getting 8,500 hits a day. But he doesn’t want to get his hopes up yet.

Since April of 2002, Mookie has drawn and written about Dominic Deegan, a small town seer whose life changes as he tries to rid himself of a curse. Mookie’s fans, including people from across the U.S., Europe and Asia, have watched Dominic Deegan become more than a comic hero. In the past few months, Mookie began selling t-shirts with the main character and is thinking of making more merchandise available. Next September, Keenspot.com, the host of his web comic, will publish a book with the first hundred strips of Dominic Deegan. Mookie will receive a share of the profits, free ex"
