Asian myth melds with anime and violence to create endless war

OK , I know this is not exactly Anime, but I'd be sure to check this out if you're in San Diego...

SignOnSanDiego.com > News > Features -- Asian myth melds with anime and violence to create endless war: "Though it may not have attracted much attention among the gothic vampires in leather and the bikini-clad, sword-wielding babes at the recent San Diego Comic-Con, the 15-foot green dragon drifting above the costumed crowd did manage to spur some dialogue.

That dragon was part of a marketing campaign to fill seats for 'Chrysalis: Rapechild,' produced and directed by Esther Emery in association with Sledgehammer Theatre and opening tonight at St. Cecilia's Playhouse. The Comic-Con crowd many of them young pop-culture junkies also happens to be the target audience for Nick Green's world-premiere play. The mythic tale of war draws from pop media in a story that's part graphic novel, part kung fu movie, part Quentin Tarantino bloodfest and part comic satire.
'We're selling the violence, the elements of modern media, that this is going to be like your favorite anime character,' said Emery, 26. 'I want to entertain people using the language of the culture I belong to.'

War, novel, bloodfest.....he he he...
